Navigating a Season of Life
I know that in spite of hard times…I am strong. I sometimes break down and some days are better than others…this is life, but I am different now than I was. I have a mantra…a kind of intention that I set and say every morning, even before I’m fully awake. It’s become a habit for me, but I feel it deeply and I say it great faith…even on the days that I know will be harder after an day that wasn’t the best. Here it is…
I believe in myself because I believe in God. I am a beautiful, divine spiritual being…a unique expression of the Source of All Things. I was placed on this earth to share my unique gifts and to shine as only I can.
I will fully admit that I haven’t been shining so brightly lately but it’s not for lack of trying. I do believe that we go through seasons in life sometimes, we need to pull in and sometimes, we need/want to go all out. I’ve definitely been in a pulling in season but feeling as if that season might be coming to an end soon. I don’t think pulling in is necessarily always a bad thing and I do believe that it’s usually a time of learning and growth.
As the weather gets warmer and the earth starts to bloom again, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I’m very ready to get back into a routine that includes more self care and more down time. I’m ready to go for long walks with my pups and spend more relaxed time with my children and grandchildren.
Yesterday, I got a taste of a beautiful, warm spring day and I felt the exhilaration of putting my face to the warm sun. Everything seemed to sparkle and I felt alive. I’m ready for a new season in my life…literally and figuratively. I am so grateful for my belief in something greater than me and I am grateful to know that I am part of that something.
I have some new and fun content coming and I think you’ll enjoy it. No matter what I’m going through in my life, my goal here is always to inspire you with a “daily indulgence”. Thanks for hanging in there with me and supporting me! I’m coming up on another birthday…I’ll be 62 in May and I do believe that life just keeps getting better. It’s all about how you look at things and I’m again feeling very excited for what’s to come!
I’m also very grateful to work with the most amazing brands…especially the small women owned companies! The outfit I’m wearing is from Benaar LA and they really do have amazing pieces.
A little bit about Benaar LA…
Dreamed up while dressing herself and a friend one night for a party, Benaar LA was conceived many moons ago or maybe it had been in the consciousness of Sherli Mikail since her childhood in Iran. Benaar LA is Sherli’s curiosity, curation and unique eye.
Sherli’s spirit is a mixture of her culture, old and new. Inspired by the vibrancy of her Persian upbringing, Sherli brings intelligence, drive, her eye and taste to Benaar LA. Benaar LA is a hybrid: High and Low; Traditional and Outside of the Box; High Street and Downtown.
This two piece set I’m wearing is going to be so perfect for summer parties, beach days and evenings out. I love it with the sky high platforms, but it’s just as cute with flat sandals. Wear the pieces separately or together…the top would be very cute with high waisted jeans and the skirt would be great with a black tee or tank and…it also comes in black.
The pictures in this post were taken at my friend Kim’s home. Kim has a blog called Tables Pour Deux and a great Instagram page. Clearly she also has a beautiful home and very graciously offered to let me take pictures around her pool. The light felt magical as the sun danced on the water with a beautiful blue sky above.
As I’ve been slowly filling up my new closet and going through my belongings, I’ve found things I forgot I had. One of those things is the Cult Gaia bag I’m wearing in these pictures. It was in a box on a shelf in my daughter’s closet and if felt like a gift when I opened the box and there it was…just waiting to be worn again. I think it’s perfect with the dress so probably it was all meant to be! The Sam Edelman platforms are insanely high and I love them, however, they’re not really walking shoes, but they’re cute! I’m wearing lucite and gold earrings from Julie Vos and I think they’re perfect for summer, along with my Amazon bracelets. I’m loving the challenge of mixing high and low pieces in my wardrobe these days.
I’ll be sharing more posts like this going forward and I really do promise a home tour soon..still digging out from under the dust! We’ll be on Bald Head Island some in May and the painters should be finishing up while we’re gone. The hardest part of this renovation has been having people in our home every day so I’m really happy that we can be at the beach more now. I’m so excited to take little Archie on his first beach trip and watch him play with Amos on the beach!
I’m including a boutique with some of my favorite things from Benaar as well as a few other things I’m loving. Be sure to take a look at their website…I know the outfit I’m wearing isn’t for everyone, but they have so many cute things!
Thanks so much for reading today…be sure to check back for a special post on Sunday that I know you’ll love!
